Universal Head Post Bearing Platform for Utility-Scale Solar Trackers

The new low-friction, modular bearing joins the Kinematics Go! system to sharpen tracking precision, unlock higher end-to-end efficiency, and standardize a historically fragmented component.

Kinematics has expanded its Kinematics Go! ecosystem with the launch of Lynx Head, a universal head post bearing (HPB) platform for utility-scale solar trackers. Presented as part of the integrated Kinematics Go! system, Lynx Head is engineered to raise tracking accuracy and system efficiency while replacing a fragmented, project-specific component with a single, configurable platform.

Higher precision and efficiency across the system At the core of Lynx Head is a low-friction design that reduces the drive torque required at each pile. Within the Kinematics Go! system, it lowers the required torque from 35 kNm to 20 kNm and cuts motor current draw from 8 A to 3.5 A — a reduction of more than 50% in both torque demand and current consumption. Its modular geometry also improves tracking precision across large-scale systems by minimising the angular deviation between the tracker’s centre and its ends.

Designed to work as a system Lynx Head generates direct synergies with the other elements of the Kinematics Go! ecosystem: actuator, controller and motor. By reducing holding torque, dynamic torque and current, it allows an optimum controller and motor to be specified, and enables a complete, efficient tracker bundle that clients can scale toward longer tracker products.

One platform for all posts and tubes Built as a universal modular platform, Lynx Head is compatible with a wide range of post profiles — from W6x8.5 to W8x13 — and multiple tube geometries. Its two-piece bearing design simplifies assembly and cuts installation time, and supports both single- and multi-row trackers with the same components. By consolidating multiple references into one configurable platform, it simplifies procurement, improves assembly repeatability, and supports international deployment.
