World Energy Day: It’s time to act!
On February 14th, the world observes World Energy Day, a global initiative aimed at raising awareness about energy resources and the imperative for responsible and efficient usage. Established in 1949 by the United Nations, this day serves as a reminder of the significance of energy consumption and the exploration of alternative solutions.
Antonio Guterres, the Secretary-General of the UN, emphasized the urgency of shifting away from destructive energy practices, stating, “It’s time to stop burning our planet, and start investing in the abundant renewable energy all around us.”
While the UN originally initiated this observance to underscore the importance of energy awareness, it has since expanded its focus. Another key day, January 26th, is celebrated as International Clean Energy Day, coinciding with the founding of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA).
At Suntrack, we are steadfast in our commitment to promoting solar PV as a sustainable alternative energy source. Solar photovoltaic (PV) energy stands as the second most cost-effective energy source, trailing only behind onshore wind. It is estimated to be 29% cheaper than the fossil fuel options, highlighting its economic viability and environmental benefits.
